LAVINIA BIAGIOTTI CIGNA


Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna, President and CEO of Biagiotti Group, was born in Rome on October 12, 1978. She is the third generation of the family business, founded in 1965 by Delia Biagiotti. She completed her classical studies and after the early death of her father Gianni Cigna, at the age of 18 she joined the Group.

Biagiotti group is known worldwide for its collections, fragrances, for its patronages and sustainable approach, choosing always natural materials. Biagiotti group is a Made in Italy flag, also notable for the strong and pioneering relations with several foreign countries. Two in specific.
April 25th, 1988 in Beijing. A unique event for fashion history and a successful milestone for all the Made in Italy: 30 Chinese models dressed in the most significant creations of the Maison, thus becoming the first Italian fashion house to present a show in China.
On February 5, 1995, the legendary doors of the Great Kremlin Theater opened wide: Laura Biagiotti was the first Italian designer to present a fashion show in Moscow. A fashion show and artistic performance which united with an imaginary bridge, Italian fashion and culture with the greatness of Russia.
Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna shared with her mother the passion for art and due to Laura’s “contamination” for fashion. These passions were cultivated by the continuous research, introducing quotes in the collections, and numerous patronage activities, including the sponsorship of Piccolo Teatro in Milan where Biagiotti collections have been showed exclusively since 1998. Lavinia has promoted important restorations in collaboration with Laura Biagiotti Parfums, as the Scala Cordonata of Campidoglio, the Fountains of Piazza Farnese in Rome, and the donation destinated to the Grand Curtains of the La Fenice Theater in Venice. She is co-founder of the Biagiotti Cigna Foundation, which collects over 200 pieces of art by the futurist master Giacomo Balla.

Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna is one of the first which enhanced synergy between two of the most representative industries Made in Italy: fashion and sports. She is President of Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the 27-hole course at the entrance of the city of Rome. The Golf club will be officially hosting Ryder Cup 2022. She collaborated in the creation of costumes for theater and for the big screen, participating in successful films such as “The Great Beauty” by Paolo Sorrentino, who won an Oscar in 2014. In 2017 Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna opened a new flagship store in via Belsiana 57 in Rome. In 2018 she launched Laura Biagiotti’s RomamoR fragrance and in 2019 Laura Biagiotti’s Forever fragrance whose campaign was shot in Rome with the actress Laura Chiatti.
In October 2019 the preview of the documentary film ‘Laura Biagiotti – The Aura of Fashion’ was presented at the Rome Film Festival. The docu-film is part of the cycle ‘Illuminate 2’ produced by Anele in collaboration with Rai Cinema.
In February 2020 Lavinia Biagiotti promoted the first live streaming show during Milan Fashion Week. Pat and Anna Cleveland, exceptional testimonials, walked exclusively for the first time together during Milan Fashion Week, interpreting a message of family history, representing the connection between generations which is cultivated also in fashion, art, nature and culture.

Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna is member of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion since 2004. She is also member of the UniCredit Advisory Board Italy since 2015 and President of the Center Territory Council since 2018. She is Vice President of the “Musica per Roma Foundation” – Auditorium Parco della Musica. Among the various awards, she was named “Grande Dame 2009″, receiving the Veuve Clicquot – Business Women Award. She has been awarded to numerous prizes including the KORE – Fashion Oscar, the Young Entrepreneurs Award and the European Personality Award. In 2019, Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna was entitled by the President of the Italian Republic, “Council Officer” of “The Merit of the Italian Republic”. In 2020 Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna was invited by Thomas Jefferson University of Philadelphia, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, to hold a Lecture on “Biagiotti: An Italian Story – Three Generations of Women Designing the Future”.
